In total, five metabolism-related genes, namely, Aass, Cdo1, Cyp2b23, Nt5e, and Pck2, were expressed in all three knockout ESC lines, and three of them were associated with regulation of ATP generation. Furthermore, RNA sequencing and gene ontology analysis showed that the differentially expressed genes in Mff -/- ESCs were distinct from those in Dnm1l −/- or Fis1 −/− ESCs. In particular, the Dnm1l knockout most significantly affected mitochondrial morphology, energy metabolism, and ATP production in ESCs. The ESC knockout lines showed an increase in OXPHOS, decrease in glycolysis, and an increase in intracellular ATP concentration, which was related to mitochondrial elongation. To assess the change in metabolic energy, we analyzed oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), glycolysis, and the intracellular ATP concentration. However, transmission electron microscopy showed a significant increase in the cytoplasm to nucleus ratio and mitochondrial elongation in Dnm1l −/− ESCs, which was due to incomplete fission. Interestingly, the Fis1 −/−, Mff −/−, and Dnm1l −/− ESCs showed normal morphology, self-renewal, and the ability to differentiate into all three germ layers in vitro. To this end, we generated homozygous knockout ESC lines, namely, Fis1 −/−, Mff −/−, and Dnm1l −/− ESCs, using the CRISPR-Cas9 system. Here, we aimed to investigate the function of mitochondrial fission genes in embryonic stem cells (ESCs). About Features Apps Browser Extension Support. This is why scientists are trying to take advantage of fusion by working on cold fusion. Department of Energy Fission vs Fusion Infographic-revised-01. On the other hand, fusion theoretically releases much more energy than fission, yet is not utilized to produce power as this reaction is not easy to control and also it is very expensive to create the conditions necessary to start a fusion reaction. While fission is splitting of a heavy, unstable nucleus into two lighter nuclei, fusion is the process where two light nuclei combine together releasing vast amounts of energy. Whereas nuclear fusion is not a chain reaction, once we disrupt it. This is the same process that powers the sun and creates huge amounts of energyseveral times greater than fission. Fusion Fusion occurs when two atoms slam together to form a heavier atom, like when two hydrogen atoms fuse to form one helium atom. It is clear that both fission and fusion are nuclear reactions that produce energy, but they are opposite of each other. The reaction releases huge amount of energy. Here, two hydrogen nuclei are combined together to get a single helium nucleus. Hence, the offspring are genetically identical to the parent and they are clones. It is a nuclear reaction that is just the opposite of fission as instead of splitting, here two light nuclei are joined together under extreme heat and pressure. It does not involve two parents or fusion of two types of gametes or meiosis. We get two lighter unstable nuclei apart from a huge amount of energy that is used for the production of power. It involves splitting up of an unstable heavy nucleus such as Uranium. This is a nuclear reaction that is used to produce nuclear power in power plants. Though both nuclear reactions release huge amounts of energy, there are differences between the two types of nuclear reactions that will be highlighted in this article. On the other hand fission is a process in which unstable nucleus splits into two lighter nuclei. Fusion is said to have taken place when two light nuclei combine together, releasing energy in the process. ![]() These nuclear reactions release huge amounts of energy. This energy can be released in two different ways known as fission and fusion reactions. Fission and fusion are two different nuclear reactions. Nuclei of atoms have strong binding energies.

![]() ![]() Hopefully if you've been struggling to figure out if Sherwin Williams Mindful Gray is for you then this post will have been of some help to you! Remember to consider the possibility of a green undertone showing if you are painting a dark with with dark wood furnishings. Ultimately, we repainted our East facing dining room in a much lighter color, Benjamin Moore Paper White, which has completely lightened and brightened the space, no matter what time of day it is. If your room benefits from multiple exposures, or primarily warm light, you really see how beautiful this paint color can be. Vice versa will apply in a western-exposure room, and a north facing room may feel a bit too dark throughout the day. If your room is east-facing, you will find that the paint color looks beautiful in morning like but a bit dark and muddy in the afternoon. Personally, I do not love Mindful Gray in a darker spaces. In fact, Agreeable Gray is regularly hailed as one of the best warm grays or greige paint colors out there. Besides that, it doesn't have any funky undertones that you might be wary of, so it's a great whole-house choice. It's a bit warmer than Mindful Gray, and can switch between being a "warm gray" or " greige" depending on the light. If you are looking for a gray that's got about the same depth as Mindful Gray but without so much of the green undertone, Sherwin Williams' Agreeable Gray might be a better bet for you. While we have only used Mindful Gray in our dining room, our kitchen, entryway and landing are all painted Repose Gray. Repose Gray is actually my all-time favorite gray because it never feels cold, even in a room with a lot of cool white and cold light. I would consider Mindful Gray a medium-tone gray while Repose Gray is a medium to light gray with a warm undertone. Like I previously mentioned, lots of wood tones will bring out a strong green undertone in Mindful Gray but less so in Repose Gray. If you are considering these two paint colors for your home, again, please consider your furnishings and other nearby colors. Again, highlighting the importance of light when deciding on a paint color. The darker photo was taken late in the day, while the brighter version was taken in the morning. ![]() These photos were also taken at different times of the day, from a room that is east-facing: so it gets nice morning light, but's dark all afternoon. On the right side of the photo, the chairs have been switched out for lighter ones, and a light colored rug has been added, which has eliminated the green undertone from the paint color. On the left, all the furniture is brown and it clearly brings out a green undertone on the back wall. This is the same room, paint Mindful Gray. If you are using this paint color in a light-filled room, it will certainly look more like a warm gray. In a room dark room with not a lot of natural light, or a room with a lot of dark furniture, the green will become more apparent. The taupe is more evident in Repose Gray, while the green is more evident in Mindful Gray. Mindful Gray is a warm gray, with a green and sometimes taupe, undertone. Our dining room is actually painted Sherwin Williams Mindful Gray, which is the next darkest shade on the same color card as Repose Gray. Those of you who have noted that it looks darker than the Repose Gray in the adjoining hallway are in fact, right. But one color that I frequently get asked about is the paint color in our dining room. You already know that most of my home is painted with Sherwin Williams Repose Gray and Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray. 6 Looking For More Interior Paint Colors? ![]() Ranger and Wrack also wear this armour in Q3A. One of my favorite aspects of Townscaper is that I can manipulate the camera controls ~just so~ so that I am able to get down to a street level and see the intricate details that make the tiny little town feel more alive. Nevertheless, I still appreciate the control for what they are - simple. The left click also shares function with placing buildings, and although the this works seamlessly, I found myself wishing for an option to place multiple buildings at once in a quick fashion, such as being able to hold down shift and click while dragging. With that being said, I found myself constantly reaching for the WASD keys in an attempt to move the camera, only to pull my hand back after attempting the useless endeavor. Townscaper’s controls are simple on paper - left click + drag moves the camera, right click + drag pans the camera, and the scroll wheel zooms. Don’t let the seemingly-small crayon box of color diversity fool you, though as long as the player has an active imagination, there’s a lot to create and a lot more to discover. Although the sky’s the limit - and even then, that’s arguable - there’s a palette of 15 colors to work with slapped onto the same building type, which appears to be a beautiful brick. Opening up on a vast ocean as far as the eye can see, it’s up to the player to fill it with tiny towns full of their own charm and character. With no music and minimal graphics, UI, and… well, everything, Townscaper appears, at first glance, pretty limited. I decided I had to know more, and this instant town-builder became an instant-buy. One thing lead to another, and I somehow ended up on Townscaper, a recently released “ instant town building toy” by solo indie developer Oskar Stålberg. A passion project for Stålberg, Townscaper had already amassed 400 Steam reviews by the time I stumbled upon it, which, for a game that had only been live for a day, was seriously surprising. In the early 1980s, the developers who owned the land beneath Marine World realized skyrocketing Bay Area property values meant an office park/hotel would be more profitable than a constantly struggling theme park. This created the brief, cumbersome Marine World/Africa USA moniker. It was absorbed by another animal park, Africa USA, the brainchild of a Southern California animal trainer. The first troubles for Marine World came in 1972, when the almost brand-new park found itself on the verge of bankruptcy. One of Judy’s companions, an Asian elephant named Mardji, once found herself dressed up in horns and a wooly sort of beard at the behest of a man named George Lucas, who was shooting a movie called “Star Wars.” The bantha you see on Tatooine is Mardji the Tusken raider astride her was her Marine World trainer. When Kianu and Bonnie arrived, they were among just a handful of killer whales ever held in captivity. The female killer whales were shipped via plane to SFO, with handlers spraying them with sea water throughout the flight. Next, two orcas were bought from fishers in British Columbia. Dolphins, penguins and pilot whales moved in. The first residents were purchased from an animal park that was going out of business in Florida. In order to bolster their fiscal standing, the owners brought in ABC (yes, the media company) to operate the park. These constant changes were all mysterious, and mostly arbitrary, to any kid. They may remember it with different names - Marine World Theme Park, Africa USA, Discovery Kingdom, Six Flags - or in different locations, as it moved from the Peninsula to Vallejo in the 1980s. Generations of Bay Area children have memories of Marine World. “Unlike a zoo, where animals are simply animals,” the Napa Register once wrote, “Marine World has humans and animals romping together.” Spock swam back to Ray, and met his proffered hand with a flipper high-five. Spock’s breathing would become dangerously inhibited. A vet from UC Davis was put on speakerphone to talk Ray through the procedure.
